Magento Developer Portrait
According to the 2019 developer survey, over 45% of Magento developers managed to learn to code less than a decade ago. This shows that development and programming have been important in the past. For a clear understanding of the Magento developer profile, check out the following statistics and metrics by gender and years of experience.
Based on experience
Almost 13% of developers work as junior or mid-level software developers (work experience under 5 years). While the smallest number of developers includes 50 or more years of experience, the largest (31.3%) includes 5–9 years of experience. At this stage, after the end of the training period, the developers retain the role of the lead or lead developer and gain a lot of personal and professional experience.
Based on gender
The latest report says that 27.5% of developers are women. Out of the total number of women, 33% believe that the effectiveness of development depends on their personal interest and curiosity in the technology stack. Another surprising fact: women, unlike men, wrote the first line of code later.
Magento developer experience level
Experience is always a decisive factor for employers when hiring a candidate for a specific professional role. As with any position in software companies, employers have different experience requirements depending on the type of position and the role they will play. Here’s a short description of each category:
Some software companies in Germany and other parts of the world hire young professionals as apprentices or young developers who have good theoretical knowledge and motivation and who performed exceptionally well in interviews and technical tests. Junior Magento developers work under the guidance of senior developers and gain hands-on experience in software development.
Second, an important characteristic by which candidates for junior positions are selected is their interpersonal skills. In other words, they must have a professional work style, ethics and values, phenomenal client management, and a commitment to delivering quality work on time and on time.
Average (experience 2–3 years)
For middle positions, leading e-commerce companies in Germany require 2–3 years of experience as a Magento developer. Medium developers should have a good mix of soft and hard skills.
At this level, Magento platform developers must work independently with the design team. You are being asked to play a prominent role in customizing Magento 1x and 2x websites for clients. In addition, they must have excellent object-oriented programming skills, the ability to create modules, test website performance, and tweak extensions.
To be selected for the role, you must have a Magento development certificate. In addition to technical reliability, it is the management skills of Magento employees that help them hit the jackpot and reach the senior or manager position in the near future.
Senior (5 years experience)
Ecommerce or software development companies in Germany require over 5 years of experience as senior Magento developers. Elderly recruitment can be done in two ways. The first is internal recruitment, that is, when the average developer is promoted to a higher level for a constant period of time due to their incredible performance. The second is external recruitment, where the senior developer position is filled from the outside.
In the case of external recruitment, employees determine the competency of the applicant based on previous experience and knowledge of the Magento platform. Employers also take into account updates to various projects that the candidate worked on at the previous company. In addition, management skills are another important aspect that helps to become a senior developer at a well-known company in Germany and in other countries.
